Job Summary:

The Center Technician serves as the first point of contact, answering phones and warmly greeting children, families, and community members in a professional and welcoming manner. The Center Technician is responsible for managing office supplies, maintaining an adequate inventory of forms and materials, ensuring office equipment is properly maintained, and handling both routine and newly assigned administrative tasks to support the Center’s daily operations.


Duties/Responsibilities:

All duties will comply with Head Start/Early Head Start standards, DFS licensing, NAEYC guidelines, Wyoming Division of Disabilities regulations, and WCFD policies. All employees will adhere to the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of WCFD.

  • Assists with scheduling and coordinating meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing materials as needed.

  • Maintains and updates staff and child records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Orders and restocks office and center supplies, ensuring necessary materials are always available.

  • Assists in preparing reports and presentations by gathering data, formatting documents, and proofreading content.

  • Supports enrollment and registration processes by organizing paperwork, verifying documentation, and assisting families as needed.

  • Coordinates maintenance requests for office equipment and facility-related issues to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Assists with event planning and coordination for center activities, including communication with families and preparation of materials.

  • Performs administrative tasks and duties as assigned to support overall efficiency and operations of the center.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all program-related information.

  • Respond appropriately to suspected child abuse in accordance with WCFD policies.

  • Provide emergency care as needed.

  • Ensure ability to perform job functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Attend all required training sessions and meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Board or its designee.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with families and children from three through age five, providing a welcoming and supportive environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse families, community groups, and staff in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with staff, children, families, and community members effectively.

  • Proficiency in secretarial and office procedures, including business correspondence, organizational skills, and the operation and maintenance of office equipment.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.

  • Adaptability to a flexible daily routine, with the capability to adjust to changing priorities and requirements.

  • Proficient in stress management and maintaining a calm, organized approach in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age.

  • WCFD will only accept college degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Must attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc.

  • Ability to read technical materials for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods without fatigue or discomfort.

  • Must be willing to drive safely in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Capable of hearing and processing both in-person and telephone conversations.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures, including hot and cold weather.

  • Ability to work in air-conditioned buildings and under fluorescent lighting.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach, to retrieve materials and supplies from ground level to a height of at least 5 ft.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to assist children in emergency situations and provide first aid when needed.
