Job Summary:
In this role, you are responsible for ensuring the consistent, accurate, and compliant implementation of child screening practices across program sites. This position supports site-based staff through training, technical assistance, data monitoring, and direct participation in screenings to ensure that vision, hearing, and developmental screenings are conducted regularly and documented appropriately. The Specialist plays a critical role in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and early identification of children who may need additional support or referrals.
Travel Requirements:
WCFD provides services in nine counties in eastern Wyoming, with primary duties for this position focused in Converse, Goshen, Platte, and Niobrara counties. Travel is required to train and support staff with screenings and quality assurance activities. Your assigned work location may be in any of these four counties, and a company vehicle will be provided for travel to sites outside of your assigned office location.
Duties/Responsibilities:
All duties will comply with Head Start/Early Head Start standards, DFS licensing, NAEYC guidelines, Wyoming Division of Disabilities regulations, and WCFD policies. All employees will adhere to the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of WCFD.
Train site-based staff on screening requirements and best practices to ensure screenings are conducted on a regular and timely basis.
Complete and submit monthly Part C and Part B screening counts for Behavioral Health Division (BHD).
Compile and complete bi-annual district screening reports.
Run monthly EHDI (Early Hearing Detection and Intervention) reports for program sites.
Assist site staff with accurate EHDI data entry, including both vision and hearing screening results.
Coordinate and monitor hearing and vision screening tracking for children with disabilities.
Provide hands-on assistance with screenings at sites that require additional support.
Train staff on the screening tools used at each site, ensuring fidelity to administration and scoring procedures.
Assist with ChildPlus reports related to screening data and compliance.
Support teams with the rescreening process, including timelines, documentation, and follow-up.
Attend screenings at sites to observe workflow, procedures, and implementation.
Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to improve screening flow, accuracy, and efficiency.
Collaborate with site teams, coordinators, and administrators to support program-wide screening quality and compliance.
Maintain confidentiality of all program-related information.
Respond appropriately to suspected child abuse in accordance with WCFD policies.
Provide emergency care as needed.
Ensure ability to perform job functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Attend all required training sessions and meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Board or its designee.
Education and Experience:
Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age (state requirements).
Must obtain a Child Development Associate Credential within a specified time frame. Training and support will be provided by WCFD.
Must attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc.
Required Qualifications:
Experience working in early childhood education, early intervention, special education, or a related field.
Knowledge of developmental, vision, and hearing screening processes.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to train, coach, and support adult learners.
Experience with data tracking and reporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with ChildPlus or similar data management systems.
Knowledge of Part C and Part B processes and requirements.
Experience with EHDI reporting and compliance.
Previous experience providing technical assistance or quality assurance support across multiple sites.

Must be willing to drive safely in a variety of weather conditions.

Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures, including hot and cold weather.
Ability to work in air-conditioned buildings and under fluorescent lighting.
Work includes time in classroom and screening environments.
Must be able to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach, to retrieve materials and supplies from ground level to a height of at least 5 ft.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to assist children in emergency situations and provide first aid when needed.
Regular travel between program sites may be required.
